FAQ | Perfection Painting & Remodeling

Question 1

How much does a free estimate cost?

Accepted Answer

Nothing — our estimates are completely free with no obligation. We come to your home, assess the project, and give you a detailed written quote so you know exactly what to expect before any work begins.

Question 2

How long does an estimate take?

Accepted Answer

Most estimates take 30–60 minutes depending on the size and complexity of the project. We walk through the space with you, answer your questions, and take measurements so our quote is accurate.

Question 3

What does your installation pricing include?

Accepted Answer

Our quotes cover all labor, surface preparation, cleanup, and any materials we supply as part of the installation process. We provide an itemized breakdown so there are no surprises. We do not supply flooring materials — you purchase those separately, and we install them.

Question 4

Do you require a deposit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we typically require a deposit to schedule your project and secure your start date. The exact amount is outlined in your written estimate. The balance is due upon completion.

Question 5

How long does interior painting take?

Accepted Answer

A single room typically takes one day. A full home interior — multiple rooms, ceilings, and trim — usually takes 3–5 days depending on square footage, the number of coats needed, and any prep work required.

Question 6

How long does exterior painting take?

Accepted Answer

Most exterior painting projects take 2–4 days. Larger homes or those requiring significant prep work (scraping, priming, caulking) may take longer. Weather also plays a role — we won't paint in rain or extreme temperatures.

Question 7

How long does flooring installation take?

Accepted Answer

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) installation typically takes 1–2 days for most rooms. Hardwood installation can take 3–5 days or longer, especially if the subfloor needs prep work or the boards need to acclimate. We'll give you a specific timeline in your estimate.

Question 8

How far in advance do I need to schedule?

Accepted Answer

We're typically booked 2–4 weeks out, though this varies by season. Winter is a great time to schedule interior work — we often have more availability and can start sooner. Call us at (248) 242-1298 to check current availability.

Question 9

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

We serve Southeast Michigan including South Lyon, Brighton, Novi, Milford, Northville, Plymouth, Canton, Wixom, Walled Lake, Commerce Township, Howell, and surrounding communities. Not sure if we cover your area? Give us a call — we're happy to let you know.

Question 10

Do you charge a travel fee?

Accepted Answer

There is no travel fee for any location within our service area.

Question 11

Are you licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Perfection Painting & Remodeling is fully licensed and insured in the state of Michigan. This protects you as the homeowner in the unlikely event of any damage or injury during the project.

Question 12

How long have you been in business?

Accepted Answer

We've been serving Southeast Michigan homeowners for over 30 years. That experience means we've seen just about every situation — old homes, tricky surfaces, complex layouts — and we know how to handle them right.

Question 13

Do you warranty your work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We stand behind our craftsmanship. If something isn't right after we've completed the job, we'll come back and make it right. The specifics are outlined in your written contract.

Question 14

Do I need to move my furniture?

Accepted Answer

For painting projects, we ask that you remove small items and valuables from the work area. We handle moving larger furniture as needed and protect floors and surfaces with drop cloths. For flooring installation, the room needs to be fully cleared before we begin.

Question 15

Do I need to be home during the project?

Accepted Answer

You don't need to be present the entire time, but we do ask that someone is available at the start of the first day to walk through the project with us. Many of our clients go about their normal routine while we work.

Question 16

How long until paint smell goes away?

Accepted Answer

Most interior paints are low-VOC and the smell dissipates within 24–48 hours with good ventilation. Opening windows and running fans speeds up the process significantly.
